Zero waste | I'm so passionate about moving towards zero waste and eco-friendly alternates in our home. Ive been using these for over a month now and I am loving them. The toothbrush and deodorant were super easy swaps and I haven't even noticed a difference in results compared to a plastic toothbrush and spray on deodorant. The soap was a little harder of an adjustment because you don't get that initial silky feel compared to liquid body wash but after a few days I got used to it and my skin has been smooth as ever. This particular one is just from woolies and lathers up the same as any other body wash. The best part is feeling good that I am doing my part 🌿oursomethingnew

Hampstead Project | We love to create bespoke kitchens that don’t feel too fitted or fussy - some simples pieces of freestanding furniture and an island are all you need sometimes to create the dream space. This kitchen has a dresser, storage run, island and a large false chimney - all handmade by us at our workshops in Felsted, Essex. Of course many months of design work went into this project, it wasn’t dreamt up in a day but it evolved in design meetings with our clients and the end result is endlessly pleasing: a kitchen than truly works and serves the needs of our clients perfectly. We think it looks pretty good too. Swipe across to see the whole kitchen... humphreymunsonkitchens | 📸 paullmcraig

mydailyrenovation DAY 19 REDUCE REUSE AND RECYCLE. My original plan for this wall was to get all the same frames and keep the wall "uniform" but we're poor after the renovation work and couldn't afford that. So we recycled these frames from the "old house" and it turned out so well! Still to fill in the empty frames. Maybe soon 🙈😂 Feel like I've lost my insta mojo a bit but floors are looming so hopefully it will return soon! 😘housebuild homeinspo homedecor housetohome homedesign myhouseidea mystyle myreno mydailyrenovation foreverhome fromonefloortotwo bungalow bungalowproject buildingproject diy stairs hallwaydecor gallerywall

I’m so proud of every new DIY thing I learn. So proud of being able to do something myself for our home. Proud of taking something that scares me and jumping in head first! . I finally changed the plugs on our bedside lamps and I can’t wait to get them set up. The bedside tables remain in quarantine out in the shed with their woodworm. Have decided that decision can wait until the weathers a bit better and I can take them out into the sunshine and make a plan of attack 🤦‍♀️😬🙄 But for now, these lamps are giving me all the feels.l 🌈💕🥰 More importantly every time I switch them on from the wall switch, I’ll be proud all over again! For me aframe is more like an emotional story, but it can, and oftenly it has to be rational. So. Aframe house is completely different from an aframe cabin. House does have to be functional, and aframe is that type of houses which needs some thinking to make it comfortable, functional and to make it suit your needs. Comparing to a house, that has a cubic main volume, aframe loses a lot of space in relation to the area, because of the angle of beams. That also causes some issues with the natural light, because it takes completely different amount of design and work to make windows in aframe, especially when it comes to the side walls/roof. That is why it is good and useful, to see others people projects – even those you're not gonna build for yourself. You can find some great ideas there: like where to put a window, how to place table or a kitchen, to save more of a space, how to work out the engineering system, to place it in the zones you're gonna use less for your daily living. And these ideas can come just by viewing the plan. But if you look wider, and try to find out, what are the benefits of making addition volumes, and how to make them look proportional with the triangle (prism to be more correct) main volume of the aframe, you can get an even bigger profit. This is one of the reasons I've started asking some of the owners if they would be interested to share their project with the community. And here are two first projects we began with: by 2blackcabins and by river__a__frame Thanks so much to the wonderful people, who've let us know their ideas! I finally translated the river__a__frame, so it is now available in English (both metric and feet) and Russian (metric only). You can get each project for $5, or take both for $8. If you're interested, please let me know any comfortable way for you!

Well today’s plan of building the remaining gable end didn’t happen as the weather was bad! But...Ady managed to move the bi-food door frame by himself using scaffold poles to roll them, cut a hole in the scaffold first lift (had permission from jws_scaffolding!) and using sheer will and determination managed to manoeuvre them into position. They fitted perfectly into place too! We are so happy! He’s now home having a 🍺

One of my favourite views of the garden, obviously taken on a much sunnier day! We were lucky to inherit lots of mature trees, they kind of create a micro climate here as we are completely protected from the wind and any sound, although the only sounds here are cows and cockerels. I can’t explain how peaceful this garden is (there is a garden tour on my highlights if you fancy a look around). When the house build is finished, we are going to get the garden designed so that we can have some expert help on how best to zone it. On the wish list are; an outdoor kitchen and eating area, a kitchen garden with greenhouses and potting shed, space for the dogs, chickens and children, then smaller gardens zoned by colour, scent, and flower type (I never promised you a rose garden?) but throughout it all I want an Indian influence to run- any recommendations for a garden designer? garden gardendesign gardendesigner shropshire countryliving countryhouses countryhousestyle trees treesofinstagram mygarden sunnydays house housebuilding housebuild renovation gardenplanning greenthumb myhousebuild reno shrewsbury gardenlife planningpermission houseextension houseproject myrenostory englishcountryhouse englishcountrygarden homesweethome englishgarden

H O M E after a couple of days away... However good breaks are, I always love it when we come home - for me there really is no place like home... When we converted and this space became our bedroom I’d always envisaged this as wall to wall cupboards, but the two middle doors concealing the en-suite door. However Mr and the builder (despite photos and drawings) had their own ideas. The storage is amazing, and it was a brilliantly cheap way of providing a lot of wardrobe space (not that we have copious amounts of stuff to hide obviously 😬), but oh my goodness I hated them at first as it was just not what I wanted. But as time has passed I’ve learned to love and appreciate them. They work, they look good, and they do precisely what we need them to do. So, you can’t ask more than that really can you?!?! 🤷🏼‍♀️ • • •homesweethome noplacelikehome lettheunpackingbegin bedroom master wardrobes builtinstorage lostintranslation home interiors rennovation renovation housebuild selfbuild conversion tbt wardrobes storagesolution myhousethismonth myhousethismonth hidethecluttermyhouseismycastle myhouseismycastle bestbuy

🥳 The crap stairs are no longer crap 🥳 If any of you remember my last post about the custom staircase we ordered, you'll remember how bad they were when they were delivered to us. (Swipe ➡️) Whole steps didn't fit properly and the end few steps just weren't how I had imagined them to look. They were renamed 'the crap stairs' and I thought it was just something we'd have to live with and put down to a mistake 😂 Well, thanks to our fantastic carpenter, they have been transformed into this 😍 We are so pleased with them now and the glass balustrades will finish them off nicely 😍 There is a bit of touching up to be done with the decorating and the knewell post needs carving to match the other one, but I won't look at these stairs now and regret them forever 😁👍🏻 --------------------entrance staircase oakstairs oakandglassstaircase hallwayideas hallwayinspo hallwaydesign newbuild frontdoorinspo entrancehall entrancedecor greyhome greyhomedecor houseenvy howihome myhometoday greydecor hallway housebuild homesofinstagram oak modernhomes modernfrontdoor hallwaystyle interiordesignideas greyandwhitehome lovetohome hall renovationjourney homedecor

As with most things 100 years old, it was a bit crooked 😉 in order to keep the wall straight and to not throw out the tile lines, the builders had to put in a new timber frame to bring the bottom of the wall back in line . .99problemsbutnowacrookedwallaintoneunexpectedhappenings crookedwalls 100yearoldhouseproblems housebuild celticbuilders thedorizzihousereno

I’m petrified of Magpies. . I’ve been swooped several times and it is terrifying! Dan has never been swooped and thinks it’s hilarious, but they can do some serious damage! I remember walking down our 200m long driveway after school with a large stick so that I could swing it around to scare them off if they ever tried to have a go at me 😂 . We’ve also had beautiful experiences with them where they’ll come up close whilst we’ve been eating dinner outside and the boys will call out to “Maggie” 😍 So Dan thinks if we’re friendly to the ones that call our block home we should be ok! We’ll see 😂 . Have you had a good or bad experience with magpies? Tell me your story!ourfarmsteadlife

The view from my bath... there’ll be a massive water tank somewhere to the right there too. Will have to disguise it a little with some nice foliage of some sort. We’ve (Dan and my Dad have) been digging holes! . We have 3 phase power running diagonally through our block half way down, to where our donga/sea container/shed area is. The previous owner had it put in. It’s brilliant because that would have been expensive to run power through, our house will sit directly over this though so we need to make it safe for the earth/site worker to come in and do his thing, he hopefully won’t have to dig that far down but just to be safe we’ve got to sort it out. . I met our electrician out at the block today with my Dad to discuss exactly what we need doing. Mainly so the electrician could see the site and confirm what he was thinking and for me to get an understanding of what is happening as I’ll be the main contact (project manager if you will) for all the trades. . Eventually we want power back at the shed area so the plan is to cut the cable close to that area and cap it ready for later on, pull the cable up to our pre dug hole which is near the house, put in a temp site box here for the builders to use and safely keep the excess cable, once the builder allows us to... the electrician can come back and use this extra cable to hook the house up. Then we’ll need to dig a trench to run cable to the shed area from the house to reconnect the electric down there. I think I’ve got this understood in my brain now 🤪 . The electrician can be out at the block in about a week and a half! So not long until we can see a start on the build 🙌🏻ourfarmsteadlife
